World Boss Events version 2 !

Yes tis true I am submitting a post raaawr *cough* after a long hiatus where the game became a bore but now I am tentatively dipping a big toe into the waters of GW2 again and it seems some things have changed yippee (and alot hasn't /sigh).

Some of what's changed and is good is that World Events are more lucrative than before the last patch, not sure what World Events are then look at my earlier post called GW2 World Boss Events for some hints.

I was going to write a little about it however one of the blogs I followed previously makes a good case for explaining what's what so I'll give props to Hunters Insight & let them tell you all about it.

" Completing a world boss now means you're guaranteed at least one rare and as many as 3. This is an improvement over dungeon chests, personal story rewards, or just about any other loot in the game.

Here's a list on reddit detailing which chests have the improved drop rates. Everything from The Maw meta event in Wayfarer to Taidha Covington in Bloodtide Coast.

•         Champion Svanir Shaman ChiefThe Frozen Maw, Wayfarer Foothills (15)
•         Fire ElementalThaumanova Reactor, Metrica Province (15) [1]
•         Great Jungle Wurm, Wychmire Swamp, Caledon Forest (15)
•         Shadow BehemothGodslost Swamp, Queensdale (15)
•         Rhendak the Crazed, Flame Temple Tombs, Diessa Plateau (25) [2]
•         Foulbear Chieftain, Hunter's Gorge, Fields of Ruin (34) Champion Modniir Ulgoth (43) ,
     Modniir Gorge, Harathi Highlands [2]
•         Dredge Commissar, Tribulation Rift, Dredgehaunt Cliffs (49) [3]
•         Taidha Covington, Laughing Gull Island, Bloodtide Coast (50) [3]
•         The ShattererLowland Burns, Blazeridge Steppes (50)
•         Branded Devourer Queen, Iron Marches [3]
•         Fire Shaman (60), Scorchlands, Iron Marches [1]
•         Tequatl the Sunless, Splintered Coast, Sparkfly Swamp (65)
•         Inquest Golem Mark II, Whitland Flats, Mount Maelstrom (68)
•         Risen Priest of Balthazar, Cathedral of Glorious Victory, Straits of Devastation (75)
•         Eye of Zhaitan, Zho'Qafa Catacombs, Straits of Devastation (75)

•         Risen Priestess of Dwaynna, Cathedral of Zephyrs, Malchor's Leap (79)
•         Captain Rotbeard, Desmina's Hallows, Cursed Shore (80)

•         Risen Priest of Melandru, Cathedral of Verdance, Cursed Shore (80)
•         Risen Priest of Grenth, Cathedral of Silence, Cursed Shore (80)

Using sites like Guild Wars Temple ( you can jump straight to the timers here ) and also the GW2 Stuff website ( more timers here ) with its very useful dragon timers, guests have the ability to show up to dragons in advance of their spawn, dodgy or not you can decide. I can't really see the difference between this and leaving characters sitting on top of chests at jumping puzzles or farms where you can log on loot & log off to play your main but then I've not put alot of thought into it?!

The Shadow Behemoth (finally available) lasts at most two stages before being killed. He barely uses some of his special skills & his adds die in moments, his big red circles barely hit anyone.

The Maw also takes only moments to kill with one of the events to kill a totem which does not take long or have any kind of return attack, or maybe it does and is killed too quickly and other events take mere moments and you have to struggle to tag each event. The final boss also dies in moments, despite the cool as hell ice tornado.

The Shatterer works great if you're on the right side of him if you're on the left he does not attack you or significantly damage you in any way and again dies very quickly.

Tequatl & Jormag probably work best out of all the dragons & requires at least two rounds to get him to move to the secondary location.

Of course all of this has had a major impact on the economy with the price of ectos going from about 38s before the patch to about 24s. "

GW2 World Boss events

So, there I was killing mobs with a buddy collecting quest items when he casually mentions "it should be time for the dragon soon let me open up general chat & double check when" leaving me to wonder wtf?

Well it turns out that there are WorldBosses (well duh right it's a mmo after all) namely the ShattererTequatl, and Claw of Jormag and being bosses you need a bunch of players to take them down however luckily the whole server I'm on already knows about them (still thinking I need to pull my head out of my gaming ass) and there's usually a group of 20 at least sitting waiting for these guys to spawn which is every 2.45 to 3 hours.

You can find out where & when they spawn by using this google page doc (setup by some helpful folks, presumably Korbben, Laulani & Etalel) which details the spawn times for each boss. I prefer using http://gw2.mmorpg-life.com/ for my maps so here's an example of the Lowland BurnsWaypoint in the Blazeridge Steppes you'll need for the Shatterer event.

Splintered Coast Waypoint in the Sparkfly Fen region for the Tequatl event.

Slough of Despond Waypoint in the Frostgourge Sound region in the Shiverpeak Mountains for the Claw of Jormag event.

I've taken down the Shatterer twice getting a couple of yellow items & the rest blues which were vendor trash, but being an event you will receive experience, karma & coin as a reward so it could be a way to supplement your income.
I've yet to find a world map I like but here's one from GuildWars2Junkies.com that tries to show the level requirements.

So there you go something new & exciting that maybe you had NFI about either that you may enjoy or use to break up your game time, yes I've gone link happy.
